Kingfisher Airlines pilots to go on strike from today

Close to bankrupt Kingfisher Airlines’ Mumbai based pilots have decided to strike work until further notice from Wednesday over non-payment of salaries.

"Mumbai-based pilots have decided to go on a strike from tomorrow (Wednesday) onwards due to management's failure to keep its promise on March salary payment," a source in the airline told PTI.
The anticipated strike by a segment of pilots could slow down the private airline's flight calendar in a big mode, he said.

Kingfisher has not paid salaries to most of its employees, including pilots and engineers, since March this year. This is the second time in the last few days that the pilots have decided to stay away from work over non-payment of salaries.

The Vijay Mallya-led carrier, which is currently operating around 100 flights per day, has most of its operations from Mumbai and Delhi after the airline reduced the number of flights to almost one fourth in the wake of financial crunch.
